Multiple Companies Teamed up to Provide Battery Replacements

A new battery swapping station has opened in Tokyo, Japan, to offer electric bicycle and electric motorcycle riders a way to safely and conveniently recycle their used battery while receiving a healthy, fully-charged new battery. The station is ran by several automakers including Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Honda. These automakers, which each have notable electric motorcycles in their portfolio, teamed up with ENEOS to offer the battery-swapping services.

The new battery-swapping service is intended to increase the consumer attractiveness of e-bikes and e-motorbikes. With the coalition of automakers opening 18 different battery-swapping locations across Tokyo, the entities hope to significantly reduce emissions produced by motorcycles in the region. The Governor, Koike Yuriko, aims to create a zero-emissions motorcycle economy in the Tokyo region by 2035.
