Colorful Bathroom Art

This Ceramics Exhibit Highlights the Hidden Potential in Everyday Objects

Toilets, bidets, basins and urinals become surprising and innovative pieces of art in the exhibition 'Ceramics of Italy.Metamorphosis' at Milan Design Week.

Promoted by the Italian Ceramics Industry Association, the 'Ceramics of Italy.Metamorphosis' exhibition proves the creative potential hidden in simple, minimalistic, but very colorful, bathroom pieces. Eight installations that use ceramics in completely unexpected contexts take the visitor on an exotic and fabulous cultural journey.

'The Fountain of Atlantis,' created by Giulio Iacchetti from GLOBO's Olivia Bathroom Collection, is real eye-candy in the center of the exhibition, and when you realize you're looking at urinals, you just feel literally flushed with, well, awe! And the "flow" continues. 'Indian Mood' is a colorful Indian-inspired totem, designed by Terri Pecora and Nuala Goodman, that uses Simas's E-line and Flow bathroom pieces, recalls the architectural designs of Memphis and attracts you to touch the unusual, but beautiful, creation.

The exhibition achieves its objective of highlighting the versatility of ceramics as a creative and electrifying design and art material.
