Basic Coffee is an establishment, housed in a co-working space in Beijing's Xian Yu Kou neighborhood. Designed by local studio Office AIO, the cafe exudes a lush aesthetic. The firm used strategic framing to create a unique ambiance for patrons. The interior is said to be "like a live advertisement," with framed views that "expose different motions performed by all parties in the cafe" — from baristas to guests.
The approach to design that Office AIO undertook for Basic Coffee transforms the act of drinking a cup of joe into something adjacent to a performance art piece. In addition, some of the framing features enable spaces where patrons can enjoy a little bit of a more private setting.
