These Students Used LEGO Bricks to Redesign an Old Baroque Theater

Participants in the 'Villa Pennisi in Musica' summer workshop were challenged with using LEGO architecture to redesign an old Italian baroque theater. In the 1950s, the historic theater was tragically destroyed by a devastating fire. To restore the theater to its original glory, students attending the Villa Pennisi workshop were asked to help redesign the building through the use of LEGO bricks.

The '#FILLTHETHEATRE' project was part of a joint collaboration with LEGO and its goal was for the students to construct a modern design that would still allow the building to retain its original function as a music hall. The students were given LEGO bricks as their building material and were told to come up with a scale model of their design for the baroque theater. Each LEGO set contained 1,200 pieces of white and translucent LEGO bricks. The students each came up with an original design for the building by using the LEGO bricks in innovative and unique ways.
