This ‘Barn Finds’ Auction Included Cars Made Famous on TV

UK-based Silverstone Auctions, which specializes in the sale of classic and rare cars, held a ‘barn finds’ auction, which yielded close to $1.7 million at the inaugural Practical Classics Restoration Show.

The sales topper was a 1962 Facel Vega HK500, noteworthy for its unusual right hand drive setup. This vehicle was snapped up for close to $108,000. Other cars attracting sky-high bids included a 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage, which sold for $85,575 and a 1970 Aston Martin DBS V8 Series I, which sold for $82,961.

Not all the vehicles’ interest value came merely from engineering, however. Some cars generated high auctions at the barn finds auction because of memorable appearances in television shows past. These included a 1969 Morris Milk Float (which featured in the ‘80s soap opera Eastenders) and a 1981 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 Series III Saloon featured in the British series Minder.
