The Balance Lamp Asks Us the Toughest Question of All

How willing are we to sacrifice our phones in order to do what is necessary, is the question the Balance lamp -- otherwise known as the control freak lamp -- asks.

Designer Weng Xinyu poses this tough and thorny question through his lamp, which provides an inquest into how reliant we are on our phones, and tests how distracted we get and to stay concentrated on our work. To address this fading sense of priority, the Balance lamp acts as an equalizer by forcing the user to place their phones at one end of the balancing scale lamp in order to have the lamp's bulb face up.

The wooden lamp, which is essentially a see-saw, has a slot at one end of the pole for the user to place their phone in. When not in use, the lamp is face-down, close to the ground. The Balance lamp, therefore, asks the ultimate question: how willing are you to sacrifice texting, tweeting and surfing the net in order to get some prolonged work done?
