'Backing Black Business' Aims to Uplift Black Communities

The co-founders of the Black Lives Matter organization have collaborated with the ad agency 'J. Walter Thompson' to create 'Backing Black Business' -- a website that makes people aware of all the black-owned businesses in the United States.

The website is constantly updating, and gives individuals the option of selecting the cities they live in and finding businesses owned by black people to visit. Categories include food and beverage, health and beauty, entertainment and lifestyle. The site also gives visitors the option of adding businesses they know about that are owned by black people.

The Backing Black Business initiative works to uplift black communities, which have enormous purchasing power in the U.S., and takes their money away from the large brands and businesses that may not support causes, hiring practices and beliefs that support and uplift them.
