Alexander McQueen's Bird-Inspired Campaign

British haute couture designer Alexander McQueen has revealed his Fall 2008 ad campaign. Shot by Craig McDean and styled by Tabitha Simmons, the ads feature red-haired 17-year-old model Alice Gibb as a sort of Gothic bird caught among the twigs and sticks of a gigantic dark nest.

Alice's flaming red hair is in deep contrast with the dark and ominous-looking nest. But I think it is that contrast--and the beautiful dresses--that gives this print campaign its edge and beauty.

Implications - Alexander McQueen has created a stunning campaign that quite obviously derives a large part of its inspiration from birds. The myth that inspired McQueen also involves a 600 year old tree.
