Crocheted Spider Webs

The 'Auntie Peggy Has Departed' Series Romanticizes Creepy Crawlers

In order to overcome part of my fear of spiders, I have always visualized their webs are innocently suspended doilies, now I don't have to imagine it anymore thanks to the 'Auntie Peggy Has Departed' art series. Of course, these lacy spider webs were not created to romanticize creepy crawlers nor calm silly fears. Instead, each web was created to celebrate the life of Peggy, who happened to be an actual person rather than simply a cute name for a unique art series.

Created by Shane Waltener, the Auntie Peggy Has Departed series are seen more as dream catchers than spider webs in his eyes. This becomes more apparent as he describes each knot as "holding a thought, a memory." It makes each piece poignantly beautiful.
