Augmented Reality Cooking

This 3D Pan Stimulator Will Help You Create Perfect Meals Every Time

The Tokyo Institute of Technology has come up with a new virtual cooking contraption to help amateurs learn to cook using augmented reality.

The 3D interface allows users to fry food and flip the pan like a real chef without worrying about spills or setting the house on fire. Because the pan is hooked up to multiple wires, it allows for the system to generate a more realistic weight for the food as you shift the pan, allowing for a more "tactile feel of the ingredients."

The new mechanism is also equipped with a force-feedback pan and spatula that can "accurately recreate the sense of cooking" by "calculat[ing] the heat transfer from the pan to meat or vegetables that are being cooked and displays the visible changes caused by heat," giving the user a genuine cooking experience.
