The 'Atlantis Resources AK1000' Will Be Installed In Scotland

Later in the summer of 2010, the world's largest tidal turbine is going to be installed at the European Marine Energy Centre in Scotland. Officially named the 'Atlantis Resources AK1000,' the turbine will be able to generate 1 MW from tides and ebb.

The 130-ton turbine is specially designed to withstand the harsh environment of the Scottish coast. The eco-friendly turbine will have absolutely zero impact on the surrounding environment as well as the marine life because it will rotate at a speed of six to eight revolutions per minute. The energy generated by Atlantis Resources AK1000 will be enough to power 1,000 homes. Now, that's a massive turbine.
