IO Donna's latest editorial, titled 'Sul Ring,' features some stunning athletic fashion centered around a grungy boxing ring. Model Esmee Vermolen is striking as she showcases different loose-fitting, androgynous ensembles, proving that fashionability does not have to consist purely of soft, feminine styles.
Photographer Marco La Conte does an incredible job of enhancing Vermolen's angular features and boyish poses. He uses mostly three-point lighting that brings out Vermolen's strong cheek and chin bones, while simultaneously causing the vibrant greens and yellows of each ensemble to pop from off the page.
To add some variation to 'Sul Ring,' La Conte photographed about half of the photos in black and white. This technique adds more masculinity to Vermolen's frame, making her the centerpiece of the frame instead of her outfits.
