See-Through Community Hubs

Atelier Boter Builds the F.forest Office with Modern Sensibilities

Design studio Atelier Boter has built a welcoming "glass-fronted community hub" in Qifeng, Taiwan. The space is named F.Forest Office.

The venue was initiated by a young Qifeng resident who sought to build "buzzy social spaces." Welcoming both locals and tourists, the see-through community hub encourages people to hang out and chat. It also serves as a point of education for tourists who want "to deepen their knowledge of the fishing village" and, of course, make some friends.

The space is situated on a corner plot in the heart of Qifeng. Atelier Boter installed sizable windows on both sides of the hub. While this allows an ample influx of light and overlooks a series of houses with verandas, the studio also claimed that the design decision "gives the center [an] air of openness and conviviality."
