YouTube Channel, Asap Science has created a cute stop motion video that explains why humans cry. The cute, teary-eyed video explains that are a number of different types of tears that humans produce. When our eyes are irritated by an external force, like say, a piece of dust, we produce ‘Basal tears’ which help lubricate our sensitive eyes.
If something becomes lodged in your eye, you will produce ‘flush tears’. The third type are ‘emotional tears’ which show others that we are sad or distressed. Crying is an odd thing, so it’s interesting to hear the theories behind why we do it. One of the possibilities that the video points out is that emotional tears contain a high percentage of a chemical that is associated with stress and therefore helps us de-stress.
