'Nissin Foods' Has Released a New Lid Inspired by Iconic Historical Art

Nissin Foods has released a new artistic cup noodle lid for its 'U.F.O Yakisoba' instant noodles. The lid is inspired by the famous 1600s artwork 'The Milkmaid' by Johannes Vermeer, a renowned Dutch artist. Depicted in the original artwork is a female milkmaid pouring milk out of a small jug. The cup noodles take inspiration from this design.

When a consumer wants to prepare U.F.O Yakisoba cup noodles from home, one method of doing so is to lift a portion of the lid and pour hot water in for a few minutes, then drain the hot water out of the lid. Nissin Foods's cup noodle products have a small, built-in drain system to prevent noodles from spilling out of the bowl when draining the water.

So, to meld the process of draining water from cup noodles and this iconic artwork from Vermeer, the lid of the cup noodles features the milk jug replaced with the opening on the lid, which gives the illusion that the milkmaid is pouring out the hot water when the consumer drains their noodles.
