Aris Moore Fashions Disturbing Faces out of Photos, Drawings & Paintings

The women in these Aris Moore portraits may invoke a negative initial reaction, but viewers may grow to empathize with each face once they give them a chance. A combination of photographs, drawings and paintings, each Moore visage creation is a collage of facial attributes. Moore, however, arranges each feature in manners that aren’t aesthetically pleasing in terms of human anatomy, but are wholly satisfying as artistic compositions. So though the females in Moore’s work can be described as fat, creepy and ugly, they’re still strangely visually pleasing.

Aris Moore resides in New Hampshire, where she’s currently working towards completing an MFA. Many of the images in her provocative portfolio also employ this kind of collage technique to produce images, and her penchant for the peculiar is present throughout most of her work.
