Oregon-Based Arcimoto Unveils 190 MPG ‘Pulse'

Arcimoto of Eugene showed off its ‘Pulse’ prototype at Courthouse Square in downtown Portland on September 24th. The all-electric prototype was two years in development and took $100,000 to build. The all-electric 3-wheel vehicle has a range of 50 miles and an energy consumption equivalent of 190 MPG.

While it may not be the car for everyone, the affordable $20,000 price tag makes it very attractive for urban and suburban residents who rarely travel more than 50 miles making their daily rounds.

The company is one of many small regional car manufacturers that are popping up around the U.S.. Arcimoto plans to produce 300 units in the upcoming year and is taking orders with a $500 deposit.
