Apple is gearing up to re-open US Apple Store locations after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown that resulted in over 500 of its stores having to close temporarily. While 100 Apple Store locations have already re-opened around the globe -- including locations in China and the US -- Apple's re-opening efforts are centered around the safety of its staff and consumers.
The tech giant's re-opening strategy will include temperature checks at the door of retail spaces, mandatory face coverings for staff and mandatory masks for visitors. In addition, frequent deep cleanings will be prioritized by staff while a limit of people inside a store will also be in effect in order to stay in line with ongoing social distancing safety measures.
"We look at every available piece of data — including local cases, near and long‑term trends, and guidance from national and local health officials," said Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail and People. "These are not decisions we rush into — and a store opening in no way means that we won't take the preventative step of closing it again should local conditions warrant."
