Apple-Peeling Pencil Sharpeners

The 'Apple Pencil Sharpener' Hones Your Pencil in a Surprising Way

The 'Apple Pencil Sharpener' keep your pencils exquisitely sharp while imitating the act of peeling an apple. As you sharpen your pencil, the apple outputs your shavings with a peeling-like effect. However, instead of peeling the apple, you're peeling away at your pencil.

The sharpener works by allowing you to insert your pencil vertically into the apple. Since the outside of the sharpener lies flush against the apple, the resulting pencil shavings seem like they are coming out of the apple.

Made with beech wood and an urethane finish, the sharpeners were created by Japanese designers Atsushi Suzuki and Hidenori Takeuchi. According to the designers, the aim of the sharpener was to make the sharpening experience "almost feel like peeling an apple."
