Embroidery-Overlayed Photos

The Anti-Serie Project Blends Embroidery and Fashion Photography

Anti-Serie is a peculiar but fascinating series, put together by the Berlin, Germany-based multimedia artist Joe Romussi, that brings together embroidery and fashion photography in truly weird and wonderful fashion.

For this particular series, Romussi took found beauty and fashion photographs and overlayed them with opaque embroidery, with the end result being that the true intentions and moods of the images are either manipulated with or indeed boosted.

The artist selected his images based on instinct, and was drawn to images that felt like a blank slate in that they could be suitably manipulated, boosted or otherwise tampered with using thread.

Ultimately, the clash of textures and materials is what makes Anti-Serie such an interesting project, although the toying of emotions is also a highlight of Romussi's work.
