Florentijn Hofman design studio does it again by capturing audiences with their massive animal sculpture installations, this time working with the children of a primary school in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Each animal was inspired by the stuffed animals that the children play with, taking on the plush, yet slumped look of giant stuffed toys lying limp on the ground. The colorful scales bring out the happy playfulness of the critters, encouraging a youthful joy with the imaginative cardboard constructions. Students designed clay sculptures as models for the giant installations, which are crafted with 2,300 pieces of cardboard that were then painted with gouache.
This colorful cardboard animal sculpture series will now serve to inspire future primary school children as the creatures will be displayed in classes.
