Zadig & Voltaire's Fall 2018 RTW Embraces Stylish Animal Prints

It may have been around for some time, but fashion inspired by the striking and instantly recognizable designs created by Mother Nature for beautiful wild animals is set to become popular for this year's Fall/Winter season. Over the earlier part of 2018, the New York catwalks were positively purring with leopard prints or zebra-striped outfits. The Zadig & Voltaire show demonstrated a range of examples, including a stunning yellow jacket with a matching belt patterned with an eye-catching zebra-print motif, the black stripes set against a golden backdrop.

New York has always had a strong affinity for rock 'n' roll, with artists as varied as The Ramones, Strokes and the city’s very own New York Dolls all making their name in raucous venues and this wild streak is amply reflected in Zadig & Volaire’s bold use of these animal textures. In fact, those zany New York Dolls may have hit their peak several decades ago, but they were undoubtedly style icons, shuffling gender norms as they pioneered skin-tight leopard-print trousers and high-heeled shoes. This legacy has been hugely influential, their fearless rebelliousness continuing to be reflected in today’s bold fashions.
