Angry Timepieces

The Harvest Moonphase Watch

The Harvest Moonphase watches are made by Finnish watch maker Stepan Sarpaneva. The watches come with a webbed face that protects two angry-looking moon faces which are made out of 18-karat rose gold.

As the moon goes through its monthly phases, the Harvest Moonphase watch rotates accordingly to mimic what the moon will look like that night.

Implications - As analog watches compete with the digital displays on mobile phones, computers and tablet computers, designers are increasingly integrating innovative features that are unmatched in the digital sphere. By including other information such as moon phases or tide information into the watch's design, the company can appeal to a niche more prone to nostalgia.
