'Age of Anxiety' By Troels Carlsen Celebrates the Apes

Danish artist, Troels Carlsen, recently exhibited a brilliantly interesting series of artworks under the title, Age of Anxiety at the VOLTA NY 09 art fair in New York City.

The artworks revolve around themes of anatomy, social and biological heritage, Darwin and varieties of monkeys. The title of the exhibition, Age of Anxiety, refers to a book by W. H. Auden in which four people sitting in a bar in New York try to find their place in a changing world with industrial and technological evolution.

The paranoia theme seems apt for our current situation with the financial crisis, global environmental issues, new power structures and the various collapses dominating this era.
