Four Amphicars Are Set To Be Auctioned Off In January

The Amphicar may have been named by Time magazine as one of the 50 worst cars of all time, but several of these vehicles can still be seen on American roads and are highly prized by their owners. The only mass produced consumer amphibious car in history, the Amphicar sold for between $2,800 and $3,300 between 1962 and 1967.

As the name suggests, the Amphicar is a vehicle that can be driven right into the water and driven out whenever you're ready to towel off. The vehicle's unique and eccentric nature has unsurprisingly gained it lots of celebrity patrons ranging from Madonna to Jimmy Carter.

One of the most high-profile auction offerings is a 1964 Amphicar that has clocked 6,000 miles and has a white convertible top and Apricot interior.
