Anarchist Association Editorials

Amber Asaly Photographs Girl Power in Motion for C-Heads

When her plans to shoot outside were thwarted by the cold, photographer Amber Asaly immediately adapted. She explains, "We were actually inspired by this harsh New York winter, enjoying it by staying inside plotting for revenge and daydreaming about madness."

You can almost feel the cabin fever-like energy in each image. The subjects -- Abla, Jana and Landra -- are all raring to go, and they resent the weather for impeding on their sense of freedom.

Smoking cigarettes, cutting up their T-shirts and lounging around in bed, these three young women embody an anarchist spirit. The viewer gets a sense that, if they don't get out soon, there will be hell to pay. It's a powerful, distinctly feminine energy, that's momentarily subdued, but fearsome nonetheless.
