Q Ball at Canada's First Q Hall of Fame

There were five gay rights pioneers inducted into Canada’s first Q Hall of Fame this September. Prime Minister Trudeau and Olympic gold medalist Mark Tewksbury were among the honored at the event which was held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel.

Lifetime achievement award recipient Joan-E (aka Robert Kaiser) was the first Q Hall inductee and spoke of the everlasting battle for gay rights and urged the community to stand together.

Although homosexuality has been decriminalized, keynote speaker Patrick O’Reilly of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights encouraged the lesbian-gay-bi-trans community to "speak out and be heard."
