Record-Breaking Art Sales

'Oh... Alright...' by Roy Lichtenstein Sells for $38 Million

The halfhearted redhead featured in 'Oh... Alright...' by Roy Lichtenstein depicts the way in which an anonymous buyer acquired the pop art painting from Christie's auction house for over $38 million.

Responsible for paying $42.6 million including sales fees for the piece, the purchaser phoned in to place his bid on the 1964 iconic work. I'm sure however, that this call was decisive. Sold by a Las Vegas casino owner, 'Oh... Alright...' by Roy Lichtenstein has now outsold an Andy Warhol soup can that went for a whopping $23.9 million, and has thus become the world's most expensive piece of art a buyer has actually paid for.
