Aljoud Lootah Recreates Stars at the Centre of her Stools and Tables

Movables designer Aljoud Lootah draws inspiration from Arabesque motifs and patterns in her line of marble stools and tables that feature an intricate eight point star located at the centre of each piece. The stars are recreated using square cuts of marble that are continuously slightly rotated to recreate the pointed shape.

Lootah's collection is entitled Double Square since it focues on the rotation of the square shape repeated several times throughout the pieces. The collection takes two square perimeters cut from white marble and stacks them together. Lattice patterns throughout give the tables and chairs shape and dimension, while the angular and cut-out shapes allow light to travel through the piece. The modular design is incredibly appealing due to its use of symmetry.
