The Alila Villas Resort Finds Harmony Between Splendor and Sustainability

It may be a strange concept to digest, but eco-friendliness and luxury aren't mutually-exclusive, and the Alila Villas Resort intends to prove that.

Nestled in the picturesque Indonesian island of Bali, the Alila Villas Resorts sports five-star amenities in combination with sustainable, low-carbon technologies. Some guest lodges include heat-reflective roofs made from lava, while others were build underground to help lower the temperature. Ruled by a philosophy of community support, the resort's world-class chefs exclusively prepare local, organic meals, often fish caught on-site at the beach!

Not only did the Alila Villas Resorts win several awards for green development, it attracted the attention of the hotel industry and was named one of 2011's best new hotels by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. If anything, this idyllic hotel proves that going green doesn't necessarily mean foregoing style, class or comfort.
