Sinuous Seaweed Fixtures

The Algue.MGX Lamp Shines a Light on the Depths of the Ocean

Even the early homo sapiens strove to replicate nature, and with 3D printing technology, pieces like the Algue.MGX Lamp can become a reality.

Designer Xavier Lust developed these elegantly exotic light fixtures modeled after algae growing and flowing underwater. The tubular tentacles of each object were first drafted on the computer, then manufactured with the help of laser technology. Careful freehand sculpting enhanced the objects to ensure their organic appearance, and LED lights were set within the bases.

A flame-like illumination is emitted through the undulating sea floor fixtures, rising up with a yellow glow through their warm-hued epoxy forms. The result is the Algue.MGX Lamp's appearance of billowing beneath the water's surface, which brings a dynamic quality of light and accent into an otherwise stagnant space.
