Scarlett Yang Created a Stunning Dress Using Biomaterials

Scarlett Yang, a fashion graduate of London, England's Central Saint Martins art school, created a beautiful transparent gown using biomaterials.

More specifically, the artist used algae extract and silk cocoon proteins to craft the design, which responds to the humidity and temperature levels in its environment and grows on its own. These factors also cause the dress to change direction and crease as humidity and temperature levels rise and fall. When it comes into contact with water, the dress will naturally decompose, making it a sustainable alternative to traditional garment mock-ups that are often made repeatedly until they're perfected.

Yang spoke to the project by saying, "The vast majority of textiles on the market are not recyclable, which means we fashion graduates and students are also contributing to the pollution issues if we still do things the traditional way."
