Alex Chinneck's 'Sliding House' Literally Slides into the Street Below

Visitors to Margate, England, are in for quite a treat in the form of Alex Chinneck's Sliding House. The London-born designer recently turned an abandoned townhouse into an urban art project. The official name of Chinneck's latest creation is "From the knees of my nose to the belly of my toes." The house stands four stories and has been redesigned to appear as if it is melting into the street below.

The top floor of the house has been left empty to show the grim reality of the abandoned home that lies within; the house had been left uninhabited for 11 years. The city of Margate approved the building of Alex Chinneck's Sliding House to help boost tourism to the area. The house will stand until October 2014 and should bring in more than a few sets of curious eyeballs.
