After introducing the first of its AIY Projects with the AIY Voice Kit, Google is now introducing the AIY Vision Kit, a do-it-yourself home security camera.
With the rise of smart home devices, there are now plenty of home security cameras on the market, but the cost of a complete system is often prohibitively expensive for the average consumer. With this DIY project from Google, consumers have the chance to get their hands on a $45 alternative that will create an AI-powered camera.
The kit includes basics like an outer cardboard shell, a circuit board, an arcade-style button and a speaker, while other components like an SD card and a Raspberry Pi Camera must be acquired separately. With the finished project, consumers are said to be able to use the AIY Vision Kit to identify different types of plants and animals, see pets and vehicles just outside the home and more.
