Facial Recognition Airport Systems

KLM Airlines is Testing a Faster Aircraft Boarding Process

This airline is using facial recognition technology to speed up the process of aircraft boarding. KLM recently performed a test at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam that allowed passengers to "experience the travel process of the future."

Facial recognition is being used to see how the boarding process can be made faster as well as how to improve airport security. The three month trial is taking place at some gates of the KLM hub of Schiphol to examine the system's speed and reliability and how user-friendly it is.

Air travelers have to register ahead of time and then can scan their boarding passes, faces and passports as a specialized kiosk. This system of aircraft boarding eliminates the need to present boarding passes at security checkpoints, allowing passengers to go directly through to security screenings.
