Asian Astrological Kicks

This Nike Air Jordan Design Celebrates the Year of The Dragon

The British illustrator and designer known as Ginger Monkey was plucked up by Nike last summer to create packaging artwork for the limited edition 'Year of the Dragon' Air Jordan shoe.

The packaging is comprised of a red box (a lucky color in Chinese culture) embossed with dragons in the style of traditional Chinese artwork. This is obviously quite fitting for a Year of the Dragon shoe; however, there is more to the artwork than Asian astrological themes.

The design that adorns the top of the box is superbly symmetrical. Its balanced proportions evoke a sense of harmony that is in keeping with its mystical theme.

As far as packaging goes, Ginger Monkey's work is top notch. Many who purchase the limited edition Air Jordans will be inclined to keep the box they came in.
