Suzukaze Kuchofuku Seat Cushion

The Suzukaze Kuchofuku is a compact and economical cushion to keep your rear cool, created by makers of air-conditioned beds and clothes.

The Suzukaze (which means cool breeze in Japanese) cushion is made to target sweaty behinds and fits onto a chair or car seat. When it is switched on, the small fan pushes 170 litres of air through the cushion per minute, to avoid the build-up of sweat and discomfort.

They claim that even if it is on for 8 hours a day, every day, the cushion will still only use 5 cents worth of electricity per month. However, at the same time, they also say in their specs on power consumption that it will last for 18 hours of continuous use on the high setting. 18 hours is not that long when you consider it will most likely be used by office workers, who sit at their desks for approximately 8 hours a day or more.

The unit uses batteries, which need to be recharged, so unless they have dirt cheap batteries, or turbo boost rechargers, I don't see how it could only cost 5 cents per month.

There is a quick mention in the video about how the cushion uses the inherent cooling mechanism of the body together with the minimal amount of energy needed to run the fan. But what does that mean in terms of reducing the running costs? A little more explanation is needed.

Cool idea though - pun intended.
