AFESIP Cambodia Helps Victims Reintegrate Into Society with New Skills

Founded by Somaly Mam in 1996, AFESIP Cambodia was created in order to assist victims of sex slavery by providing the necessary training in order to help them reintegrate back into society. Featured on AFESIP Fair Fashion (AFF), all garments and items – handmade by the rescued victims with the skills taught by the social enterprise – can be purchased for fair trade on the website.

Training provided by AFESIP Cambodia is not restricted to vocational ones like sewing, hairdressing and weaving -- though those are the main categories –- but also include reading, writing, cooking, handicrafts and other life skills. The social business’s hands-on approach to assisting victims is not only extremely practical but the organization also creates jobs and employs these women when their training is complete.
