At the World Human-Powered Speed Challenge in Battle Mountain, Nevada, Canada-based company AeroVelo is looking to break the human-powered speed record by building the world's fastest bike.
Even with the record currently set at an impressive 83.1 mph (133.8 km/h), AeroVelo is confident that their bike, named Eta, will be able to achieve speeds as high as 87 mph (140 km/h). Eta is planned to be an upgrade of AeroVelo's 2012 bike Bluenose, and therefore Eta will share a similar design. The cyclist will sit in a recumbent position and like the Bluenose, Eta will forego any windscreen, instead the cyclist will navigate via a monitor connected to a small camera mounted on top of the bike.
AeroVelo is hoping that those who have a passion for speed and engineering will help them to achieve their funding goal on Kickstarter.
