Dual-Door Washing Machines

The 'AddWash' Washing Machine Made Its Debut at CES 2016

Samsung's 'WW8500 AddWash' washing machine recently made its debut at CES 2016. One of the advantages of a top-loading washing machine is the ability to add clothes to a load mid-cycle. However, this is not an option on front-loading machines, which generally lock once a cycle has begun.

Samsung new washing machine solves the problem of adding extra clothes to a cycle through the use of a secondary door. Instead of the singular opening that is customary on front-loading machines, the WW8500 AddWash has a secondary door built into the main door. This smaller opening allows consumers to add extra clothes or items such as fabric softener after a cycle has already begun. To access the smaller door, users simply need to press a button that will temporarily halt the cycle until they have added all of their extra items.

The dual-door washing machine is particularly useful for European consumers who primarily use front-loading washers.
