Pink Floyd's Holographic Sound

Similar to holographic images for the eyes, this new technique could be compared to a type of 3-D experience for the ears. The technology used in Pink Floyd's newest album, "The Final Cut,"produced excellent results! The album was created especially for personal listening devices with headphones, as two seperate tunes were recorded for each ear piece.

It's a little trick for the brain; to fool the mind. There's a new feel to the music, as the artists recorded sounds independetly for each ear. Using a dummy head with two microphones in the same position as our ears, the brain has to guess where the sound font position is. Each recorded sound is combined using an algorythm called Cetera and the result gets emitted by only one channel.
