Trend Hunter Travels to Calgary to Test Drive the 2017 Buick Envision

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of traveling to Calgary, Alberta to test drive the all-new 2017 Buick Envision -- the brand’s first luxury compact SUV. In an effort to personify the vehicle, the Buick team planned an exclusive retreat and an extravagant itinerary that complimented the brand’s identity. During the retreat, I was able to explore panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies, partake is sushi making and relax in one of Alberta’s most secluded and charming hotels -- Azuridge Estate Hotel.

My journey began the minute I arrived in Calgary, as a chauffeur whisked me away to the beautifully secluded Azuridge Estate Hotel. I checked in and was promptly escorted to my personal room. The suite featured 2 queen beds, a separate living room and spacious bathroom equipped with an elegant clawfoot bathtub. One major highlight of the room was the spacious, wrap-around balcony that overlooked the estate (including the surrounding forested area and snow-capped mountains in the distance).

After meeting the other guests during lunch, I was introduced to my vehicle. The Buick team walked us through the amazing in-car features such as the 4G LTE, Apple CarPlay, touchscreen standard, advanced mapping systems and live OnStar advisor services. After adjusting my seat (which could be heated or cooled) and testing out the plethora of handy technology, I pulled out of the estate and began my exploration of the glorious Alberta landscapes. The 2.0L turbo engine, all-wheel-drive and active twin clutch made for and impeccably smooth performance. The ease of control during acceleration and turns instilled me with a feeling of comfortable confidence.

A few hours after navigating around the countryside and nearby small towns, I headed back to the estate for a hands-on sushi making class with Executive Chef Yoshi Chubachi. With gentle guidance and encouragement from the other guests, I was able to successfully prepare and taste-test my own (delicious) creations. Subsequent to this interactive, fun and educational activity, all the guests gathered for cocktails and an intriguing presentation to further understand the 2017 Buick Envision. The vehicle not only offers comfort and connectivity, but the safety features surpass all expectations. The automobile is enhanced with sensors, radars and cameras to provide ultimate control and increased confidence for all drivers – from beginners to experts.

With 113 years of automotive progression, Buick continues to evolve and innovate in an effort to meet the demands of today’s consumer. From luxury design and state-of-the-art safety features, to new technologies and elevated connectivity, the Buick Envision is seamless. Continuous advancements achieved by this brand prove that it truly stands by its dedication to quality, safety and value, while simultaneously adapting to new consumer needs.

After an engaging question and answer session, we all sat down for an incredible five-course dinner. The meal was lavish and fulfilled any possible expectations. As the night wound down, all guests retired to their rooms fully educated on the Buick Envision and delightfully content with the luxurious and immersive experience that the day had brought.
