Blown-Up Doll House Furniture

The 1:1 Project by Silva Lovasova is Understandably Toy-Like

The 1:1 project involves doll house furniture in the most unlikely of ways. Without any context, the pieces that make up the collection look as though they are cute, miniature designs fit for little girls and their playtime. In reality, the 1:1 project is comprised of real-sized designs that have been directly inspired by such toys.

Created by designer Silva Lovasova, the 1:1 project is the result of scanned miniature furniture and accessories. These 3D scans were enlarged into functional sizes using digital software so that they then could be recreated using extruded polystyrene using CNC milling. At least the larger designs. The smaller ones were made out of porcelain or created with epoxy tooling board.

Interestingly, the 1:1 project highlights the imperfections from the miniature pieces.
