09FDIP by Spaceworkers Explores Open Thresholds

In the conception of 09FDIP by Spaceworkers, the architects paid special attention to the potential dialogue such a building could carry with the urban environment that might surround it. By definition, an edifice provides a built space, enclosed to some degree, but distinctive boundaries were avoided in this particular project.

The misshapen hoop gallery looks quite imposing from the plaza on which it sits, yet in many places it lifts its base above the ground to invite pedestrians into an expansive landscaped courtyard. Once in the core of 09FDIP by Spaceworkers, one is shown a clear view of the broad window-lined corridors inside, exposed to the soft sky and sunlight beyond. The structure speaks in a language of thresholds, leaving visitors to experience the subtleties of transitioning between interior and exterior environments.
