Zipair's Inflight Meals Made with Cricket Powder are Protein-Rich

Affordable Japanese airline Zipair is introducing inflight meals that are rich in protein and useful for reducing waste and this is possible since they are made with edible insects. These new inflight meals are being introduced in partnership with Gryllus and there are burgers and pasta meals that are made with Gryllus Powder.

While the Chili Burger Topped with Tomato includes Gryllus Powder in the buns, patty, and the spicy flavored tomato sauce, the Pasta Pescatore serves soft-shell shrimp and other seafood with a tomato-based sauce with gryllus powder.

Gryllus bimaculatus is a species of cricket and when it is powdered and cooked into food, it is said to provide umami flavor and what inflight catering chef Keita Masuda describes as "a shrimpy taste and nutty aroma."
