Zimoun Turns Packing Peanuts Into Crashing Waves

Rather than have packing peanuts play a supporting role, this art installation by Swiss artist Zimoun puts the packaging material front and center. The work of art, titled '36 Ventilators, 4.7m3 Packing Chips,' explains most of how the exhibit works—it's a kinetic art piece that involves constantly blowing packing peanuts around with the aid of a few good gusts of air.

As a result, the packing peanuts appear to be like a giant white wave crashing against the windows. This is heightened by sound, which makes it seem as though water is really running throughout the space. If you were to stand far back enough from the windows and squint, you might really be duped into thinking it was water.
