Immersive Chinese Metaverses

Internet Company Baidu Has Launched Its Own Metaverse, XiRang

Chinese Internet company Baidu has announced the launch of XiRang, its very own metaverse platform that features a fusion of futuristic and historical Chinese designs elements.

According to the company, the new virtual platform will be accessible on computers, wearable devices, and smartphones. From these devices, users will be able to log in, create an avatar, and begin engaging with the digital environment and other XiRang players. Although, still a work-in-progress, XiRang can support 100,000 users at a single time -- an impressive number considering the platform just launched.

The immersive "Möbius band-shaped" environment will include landmarks such as an ancient Shaolin Temple, the sci-fi-themed Three-Body Museum, and the Creator City region. In addition, the metaverse will include immersive audio that enables VR headset users to experience full-fledged 3D sound.
