Water-Detecting Wristband Alarms

The 'Dolphin Alarm' Aims to Prevent Child Drowning Incidents

A small child falling into a swimming pool while unsupervised is every parent's worst nightmare, but rather than worry about such a horrible event, parents can now direct their energies towards thanking U.K.-based electrical engineer John Barstead for devising a wristband alarm designed for this specific situation.

Called the Dolphin Alarm, this particular wristband alarm is capable of emitting a sonar signal in the event that the child falls into the water. The signal is picked up by a receiver unit that can be left to float in the pool, causing it to emit a loud alarm.

What's great about this wristband alarm is it doesn't get in the way until it's really needed, at which point it can enable parents to rescue their child quickly and prevent a tragedy.
