Norwegian architect Lars J Berge created a wooden birdwatching destination that is an accessible hideaway to view migrating and breeding birds. This tower is located in an open landscape with a shallow sea, freshwater ponds and grasslands as far as the eye can see on an island in Hordaland County of Norway.
Connected to a series of paths around the park, the tower offers amazing views and an easily accessible lookout for all visitors. The structure was made on a concrete foundation that dates back to the Second World War. This foundation features a gentle ramp for wheelchair accessibility that leads up to a tiered timber seating area and amphitheater for tours and presentations.
When creating this tower, the designer made sure to flank the entire western side to ensure protection from the strong sea breeze. This new wooden birdwatching destination is not only useful but it is aesthetically pleasing with its modern design.
