Hi-Tech False Eyelashes

Winkymote by Katia Vega Allows Blinks to Change Television Channels

Winkymote by Katia Vega, a designer who launched the Beauty Technology project, involves a set of false eyelashes that have been embedded with sensors so that with every blink, it was programmed to change a television channel. Created with quadriplegics in mind, it is one of many electronic devices created for the project that explores the use of traditional makeup applications for higher purposes other than looking good.

Prototyped for Felipe, a 33-year-old master student who injured himself during a jujitsu practice 13 years ago, Winkymote by Katia Vega allows him to change channels and turn on or off the TV by blinking his left, right and both eyes. It was developed with Clio, an arduino based microcontroller from Seeed Studio.
